Green groups and MPs fight for Repeal Bill Amendment

When the Great Repeal Bill comes into force, it will repeal the European Communities Act 1972 which currently guards against environmental pollution in the UK.

Many environmental groups and MPs across all parties are concerned that the European laws that help prevent water and air pollution in the UK may be ‘diluted’ by the Great Repeal Bill. These groups have started to work together on a repeal-bill amendment to ensure the environment doesn’t come off a poor loser when the UK leaves the EU.
